We understand the the frustration of getting the height correct for hitching your fifth wheel trailers. Follow these easy steps for setting up and using the tool.

1. It is best to set your trailer on a fairly level and hard surface for doing the initial setup of the tool. Set your trailer to the correct height for your tow vehicle to hitch it up. Take the cord winder and use the magnets to attach it to the foot plate of your trailer next to the pin.
2. Most users set the length of the cord after disconnecting their trailer and before any leveling and adjusting of the landing gear. That way the trailer is the correct height for making the connection for the towing vehicle.

1. Tie the cord so that the weight is at the ground level or slightly above (1/16" - 1/8" above).
2. Once you have the height and cord length set correctly, just remove the tool and wrap the cord around the tool. You are all set. The tool is now set to the height of your specific tow vehicle. Any trailer you want to tow can now be set to the correct hitch height every time using the tool.
3. Go ahead and make any leveling adjustments you need to do to your trailer.
4. When you are ready to connect the trailer to the tow vehicle, unwrap the cord and stick the winder part of the tool to the hitch plate using the magnets. Raise or lower your landing gear so that the tool is just touching the ground or 1/16" - 1/8" above as you did in the step above.

Once you have the height set, remove the tool and wind the cord around the tool and store it in a safe place. It is recommended to store the tool in a compartment or inside of the tow vehicle. Now just back into the trailer and finish your connection like you normally do.
